Tuesday, July 4, A game and the fairy tale train

We hope that everyone had a wonderful 4th of July.  Because July 4th is not a holiday in Austria, we had classes as usual.

Our day started with a game that is similar to musical chairs.  One student was in the middle of the circle, and all of the other students had a chair.  The student in the middle had to say a sentence (in German, course) like "I like people who wear glasses."  Then, everyone who is wearing glasses had to stand up and find a new chair while the person in the middle was also trying to find a chair.  The person left without a chair had to go into the middle.  The students energetically participated!

After the game, we talked about packing for our trip to Vienna and our flight home.  Then, we had our classes as usual.

After lunch, some students chose to participate in our optional activity, a ride on the Märchenbahn or Fairy Tale Train. The ride takes you through some of the tunnels in the Schlossberg, tunnels which were built as air raids shelters during World War II.

We enjoyed the cool temperatures in the tunnels, and the light shows were entertaining and even required that we participate with our magic flashlights.  We felt like kids again as we relived our favorite fairy tales.
