Saturday, July 8: A cathedral, catacombs, museums, and a walk downtown in Vienna

On Saturday, we started with breakfast in our youth hostel before heading to the Stefansdom (or Stephan's Cathedral), which is a large church in the middle of Vienna.  There was even a concert with instrumentalists, soloists, and a choir during our visit.  We also toured the catacombs of the cathedral where we saw the graves of some important figure in Vienna's history.

After the cathedral, we headed to the Burggarten or Castle Garden where we enjoyed our sack lunch that was provided to us by the hostel.

Next, the students divided into two groups based on whether they wanted to visit the Natural History Museum or the Art History Museum. The students spent two hours in their chosen museum.

After all of that learning, it was time for ice cream, so we stopped at a nearby ice cream shop before heading to our next museum.

This time, the students got to choose from three museums: the Natural History Museum, the Art History Museum, or the Technical Museum. I was only with one group of students, so I don't have pictures of the other groups, unfortunately. Here a few pictures from the Natural History Museum.

The students were very tired, so we headed back to the hostel to rest before dinner.  For dinner, we headed to a restaurant.  After we ate, we took a stroll through downtown Vienna.  We also walked by the Stephan's Cathedral again to help students get their bearings in the city.

At this point, we were all very tired, so we headed back to the hostel and then to bed.
