On Friday, we said goodbye to our host families. It was difficult for both the students and the host parents/siblings.
We drove two hours to Vienna and stored our luggage at our youth hostel before heading to our first destination.
Our first stop was the Schönbrunn Tiergarten or Schönbrunn Zoo. Here we had time to enjoy all of the different animals, including giraffes, koalas, pandas, seals, polar bears, and many more.
The zoo is actually part of the Schönbrunn Palace grounds, so we next headed to the palace so that the students could see it from the outside and have some time to enjoy the gardens.
After that, we headed back to our youth hostel to check in and get settled. We also had dinner in our hostel. Of course, we had to stop on the way back for some "Straßewasser" (=street water as the kids like to call it) from the public drinking fountain.
