Today we were back at school. The students continue to have fun being creative with German in our breaks. Here's a great example of that:
As our warm-up, we played "Simon says." We went around the circle, and students had to give the directions, using their own name in place of "Simon."
Next, we had a paper airplane contest to see whose paper airplane could fly the farthest.
The competition was in the style of a bracket with two students competing against each other in order to advance.
And the winner is...
Several students have Polaroid cameras with them and are having fun with these pictures. Here's an example:
After classes, lunch, and our Support and Success Groups, students started brainstorming their contributions for our magazine that will act as a scrapbook of our time here in Graz. Each student and each host family will receive one before we leave Graz.
Then, students had the opportunity to visit Cafe Sacher with the group. (This outing was optional for students.) Cafe Sacher originated in Vienna, but also has a location in Graz. The cafe is best-known for its Sachertorte or Sacher cake, which is a chocolate layer cake with apricot jam between the layers.
