Wednesday, June 14

Today we had classes and visit to a museum.  Students started by going outside in groups to play the game "I spy" or "I see something that you don't see."  Then, they had to write down all of the words for the things that they saw.

After that, they had their three classes. Here are some pictures of the students before and during class.

Following our classes and lunch break, we spent time reviewing our 8 IUHPFL Core Values (Appreciation, Diligence, Discovery, Empathy, Encouragement, Honor, Respect, Unity), and students recognized their peers who have exemplified these qualities over the last week.  It was quite heartwarming to hear how they acknowledged each other's hard work.

In the afternoon, most of us went to the Landeszeughaus (the Syrian Armory), which has is world's largest historical armory. (Some students's host families had already taken them over the long weekend.) It contains 32,000 objects, including armor and weapons.

The collection is impressive and thought-provoking, and the students enjoyed looking at the displays.

After our museum visit, students had free time in town before returning home to their host families.  Some of them went shopping and got ice cream, favorite activities of many students.
